  The AT2040 can lessen vocal plosives—popping noises from loud consonants like "p" and "b"—by utilising an internal multistage pop filter rather than an external pop screen. The AT2040 should be utilised with a mic preamp that can deliver moderate to high gain due to its XLR 3-pin output connector and limited sensitivity.
