The Audio-Technica AT2035 condenser microphone offers a smooth and detailed sound at a price point that's affordable for home-based musicians, vocalists, and podcasters while balancing value and good audio performance. When tracking in untreated rooms, the large-diaphragm condenser capsule's cardioid polar pattern minimises feedback and off-axis noise, which is a desirable feature. To enhance headroom and capture extremely loud sources up to 158 dB SPL without distortion, turn on the -10 dB pad. Turn on the 80 Hz high-pass filter switch to reduce the lows without using EQ when low-frequency rumble/hum or overpowering bass invade your signal. The AT2035 is a solid-state condenser with an XLR output, therefore it needs to be connected to a mic preamp with an XLR that can provide 48V phantom power, which is equivalent to anything between 11 and 52 VDC.
