  • Panasonic Lumix G Vario 14-42 mm f/3.5-5.6 Mat Black

The Lumix G Vario 14-42mm / F3.5-5.6 II ASPH. / MEGA O.I.S. lens for Lumix G based on the Micro Four Thirds standard offers a versatile zoom range of 14-42mm (35mm camera equivalent: 28-84mm) suitable for a wide range of situations from landscape to portrait.

It’s also ultra-compact and lightweight, so it makes a great addition to any photographer’s camera bag. Comprising of 9 elements in 8 groups, the Lumix G Vario 14-42mm / F3.5-5.6 II ASPH. / MEGA O.I.S. lens adopts 2 aspherical lenses to achieve a reduction of both size and weight yet maintaining its high optical performance across the entire zoom range.

The Lumix G Vario 14-42mm / F3.5-5.6 II ASPH. / MEGA O.I.S. lens incorporates Panasonic's MEGA O.I.S. (Optical Image Stabilizer), which makes it easy to shoot super clear shots even in low-lit situations by suppressing the blur caused by a hand shake. This lens incorporates inner focus system driven by a stepping motor. When mounted on the cameras of Lumix G, it also enhances the high speed Contrast AF system during still and video recording. With its minimum focus distance of 0.2 m (14-20 mm) / 0.3 m (21-42 mm) even at full zoom, the this lens provides a maximum photographic magnification of 0.17x (35 mm camera equivalent: 0.34x).

The 7 aperture blades create a circular aperture diaphragm and produces an attractive smoothness in out-of-focus areas even when shooting at a large aperture. Designed to compensate for hands-shake ‘blur’, the MEGA O.I.S’s internal LSI compensates by processing the output of the gyrosensors at approximately 4,000 times a second.

What you see in the Live View Finder or LCD image is what you get in the shot (especially effective when using a zoom lens). In addition to a standard broadband anti-reflection coating, Lumix G/Leica DG lenses reduce the reflection of light entering at an angle. Widely used on fisheye and ultra-wide-angle lenses, this coating greatly improves results when shooting against a light source, resulting in high quality images with superb clarity.

These lenses prevent spherical and distortion aberrations, so higher magnification can be achieved with fewer lenses. Resulting in smaller size and weight, these lenses feature the high dimensional accuracy of Panasonic’s cutting-edge production technologies, including concave lenses that measure just 0.3mm at their thinnest part.
