Setting up the Osmo Mobile 8 is effortless. Unfold it, attach your smartphone using the magnetic clamp, and start filming. The built-in intelligent sensor automatically detects your phone and balances the gimbal for optimal performance. There’s no need to remove your phone case, and iPhone users can even opt for the DJI OM Magnetic Quick Release Mount (sold separately) to speed up the setup process.

The Multifunctional Module enhances your creative control by enabling subject tracking directly in your smartphone’s native or third-party camera apps—no need to open the Mimo app. It also unlocks gesture control for effortless operation. The integrated fill light offers eight brightness levels and adjustable colour temperature, helping you achieve perfect lighting in any environment. Built-in Bluetooth allows you to connect up to two DJI Mic 3, Mic 2, or Mini transmitters directly to the gimbal, eliminating the need for a receiver.

With gesture control, shooting becomes intuitive and hands-free. A simple palm gesture starts or stops intelligent tracking, a “V” sign captures photos or starts video recording, and a double “L” gesture adjusts framing on the fly. These smart controls make it easy to shoot solo or in dynamic environments.

The Osmo Mobile 8 features 3-axis stabilisation and enhanced ActiveTrack 7.0, which automatically recognises body shapes for precise tracking of people or pets. Even when your subject leaves the frame, the gimbal uses automatic zoom and pan adjustments to maintain continuous filming. Smart Capture allows you to switch between multiple subjects with a tap, while built-in stabilisation ensures shake-free, distortion-free footage across any terrain.

For fast-moving scenes, the Dual-Lens Boost function harnesses both your smartphone’s wide-angle and telephoto lenses, enabling smooth transitions and seamless re-framing even when subjects move out of view.

The compact, foldable design features an extension rod that adds up to 21.6 cm in length, making it perfect for capturing creative low- and high-angle shots. The ergonomic handgrip ensures comfort during extended shooting sessions, while the gimbal’s pan axis tilts for dramatic low-angle perspectives.

Intuitive onboard controls include a joystick, trigger, and a side wheel for precise zoom and focus adjustments via Bluetooth 5.3. The integrated status indicator displays battery life and gimbal mode at a glance. Pressing the trigger three times quickly switches between front and rear cameras, making selfie recording effortless.

With a runtime of up to 10 hours, the Osmo Mobile 8 recharges in just 2.5 hours via USB-C. When using intelligent tracking or the fill light at maximum brightness, runtime adjusts to 4–5 hours depending on your settings. The USB-C port can also output power, allowing you to charge your smartphone when the gimbal is off.

The gimbal also supports advanced shooting modes, including Time-Lapse, Motion-Lapse, Hyper-Lapse, and three different panorama modes for wide scenic shots. Dynamic Zoom and cinematic Move In/Move Out modes add a creative flair to your videos.

Through the DJI Mimo app, available for both iOS and Android, ActiveTrack 7.0 keeps your phone perfectly centred as you move. You can even view and control the gimbal remotely using an Apple Watch.
