RODE RODECaster Video S All-in-One Audio/Video Console
The RODECaster Video S All-in-One Audio/Video Console is designed as a streamlined and more compact version of its predecessor, the RODECaster Video. It delivers the same powerful video switching, recording, and studio-grade audio control in a more efficient, intuitive form factor. Equipped with a 2" touchscreen display, a tactile rotary encoder, and a thoughtfully arranged control layout, the Video S allows creators to seamlessly manage both video and audio sources. With comprehensive connectivity options—including HDMI, USB-C, and NDI inputs, as well as wired and wireless network connections—it integrates seamlessly into any production setup. The console can also be connected to the RODE ecosystem via USB-C or the RODE Central software for advanced device configuration.
The RODECaster Video S supports up to nine mix-effect layers that can be simultaneously displayed in both preview and program views. These include two downstream keyers for logos and overlays, two chroma keyers for background replacement, and a luma keyer, all of which work alongside two media players for video, image, or audio playback from USB storage. Multiview functionality provides a comprehensive overview of all live inputs, scenes, media, and mixer channels, with real-time status indicators for network, storage, and recording. Users can switch between four 1080p60 video sources—three HDMI and one USB-C—and create complex layered scenes that can be saved and recalled instantly. Additionally, the console supports up to four NDI streams for advanced streaming workflows, while the HDMI output can be configured for preview, program, or multiview display feeds.
Audio performance is where the RODECaster Video S truly shines. Two studio-grade combo XLR-1/4" inputs with low-noise, high-gain Revolution Preamps ensure pristine recording quality from microphones or instruments. Wireless connectivity is supported via built-in receivers for RODE Series IV devices, including the Wireless GO II and Wireless PRO systems. Digital USB-C connections enable seamless integration with RODE USB microphones, the RODECaster Pro II, and the Duo Audio Production Studio, while also providing 2-in/2-out multichannel outputs and mix-minus support. The Aphex VoxLab processing suite delivers studio-level effects per channel, including EQ, compressor, noise gate, de-esser, Aural Exciter, Big Bottom, and Compellor. Audio can be mixed directly on the console via the touchscreen and rotary encoder, or remotely using RODE Central software.
The intuitive control layout prioritises scene-based production for a more efficient creative process. Automatic chroma keying simplifies background replacement, allowing users to choose between blue or green screen options with fine-tuned controls for transparency and blending. Media buttons enable quick access to video clips, images, and audio assets, while graphic buttons trigger dynamic overlays for live visuals. Intelligent auto-switching further enhances production flow by linking any audio input to a video source, automatically cutting between speakers based on detected sound levels. This hands-free operation provides smooth, natural transitions that mimic the precision of a professional technical director.
When it comes to streaming and recording, the RODECaster Video S is ready for any platform. It supports direct streaming via RTMP/RTMPS at up to 100 Mb/s to services such as YouTube, Twitch, and Facebook Live over integrated Wi-Fi 6 or Ethernet. Users can also input up to four NDI sources, output a single NDI stream, or utilise dual-camera streaming through the free RODE Capture app for iOS. Recording can be done directly to external USB storage, including isolated (ISO) recording for flexible postproduction. The console records program feeds as H.264/AVC MP4 files with embedded AAC stereo audio, and also supports multitrack recording of up to nine individual stereo WAV files.
For advanced configuration, the RODE Central companion software, available on macOS and Windows, offers deeper control over the Video S. Users can construct complex scenes, automate audio-based video switching, configure streaming profiles, and fine-tune their audio mix. The built-in Scene Builder feature allows creators to design custom layouts using RODE presets, complete with real-time RTMP previews and theming options for video borders and keying backgrounds.
Compact yet incredibly versatile, the RODECaster Video S combines high-end broadcast performance with simplicity and portability, making it an ideal solution for streamers, podcasters, content creators, and small production teams looking to elevate their live and recorded content.
