The Matthews 169025T 40 x 40" Solid Floppy is a highly practical light control solution designed for fast setup and maximum versatility on set. Ideal for cutting light, shaping shadows, or controlling spill, this compact flag can be quickly deployed and adjusted to suit a wide range of shooting scenarios.
Engineered with portability in mind, Matthews has reduced the size of the traditional 4 x 4' floppy by 8 inches on each side, allowing it to fit more easily into passenger vehicles without requiring a dedicated grip truck or van. Despite its smaller footprint, it retains full functionality—simply release the hook-and-loop fasteners at the corners, and the hinged top section “flops” open to create a large 40 x 80" opaque surface.
Constructed from heavyweight commando cloth duvetyne, both panels provide excellent light-blocking performance, making it ideal for creating negative fill and enhancing contrast on your subject. Beyond light shaping, it also doubles as a sunshade for outdoor shoots or a privacy screen in studio environments. Built for durability, the frame features lightweight hollow steel tubing, while the solid steel mounting rod ensures long-term reliability under demanding production conditions.
