    The addition of a floating focusing element, which enables the lens' high resolution, represents the major modification to the lens's optical design. By employing 5x "half-macro" magnification, the minimum focusing distance at 70mm is reduced to 10.2". The improved corner-to-corner sharpness and the increased resolution are present throughout the zoom range. To lessen and suppress chromatic and spherical aberrations, the lens has aspherical, Advanced Aspherical, Super Extra-low Dispersion, and extra-low Dispersion aspherical elements. The rounded, nine-blade diaphragm gives the lens its delicate, smooth bokeh, while Nano AR Coating II manages flare and ghosting.
