Blackmagic Design HyperDeck Shuttle 4K Pro
The Blackmagic Design HyperDeck Shuttle 4K Pro is a next-generation live media player and master recorder, purpose-built for professional broadcast and post-production workflows. It is designed for desktop use and features intuitive physical controls, a precision-machined metal search dial, and a large 7-inch HDR touchscreen that offers monitoring and complete control, including scopes, media status, timecode, and audio meters. Whether you're recording, reviewing, or playing back content, the HyperDeck Shuttle 4K Pro provides an efficient and tactile experience that feels like a traditional broadcast deck, now with modern functionality and network integration.
Supporting 12G-SDI and HDMI 4K video connections, the HyperDeck Shuttle 4K Pro records in Apple ProRes, DNx, and highly efficient H.264 and H.265 formats. With broad format compatibility—including NTSC, PAL, 720p, 1080p/i, PsF, and full 2160p Ultra HD—it's suited for virtually any broadcast or streaming application. Users can record directly to internal M.2 flash storage or external USB-C drives or even capture footage straight to network storage thanks to the built-in 10G Ethernet. This robust connectivity makes integrating the HyperDeck Shuttle into larger post-production workflows easy, with multiple editors, colourists, and VFX artists accessing the same footage in real time.
The device also functions as a network storage solution, enabling seamless remote collaboration. Its integration with Blackmagic Cloud allows media files to be synced globally, making it ideal for distributed editing teams using DaVinci Resolve or other creative applications. H.265 proxy files can be uploaded and shared even while recording is in progress, allowing remote editors to start work immediately—without waiting for the main file to finish. This makes the HyperDeck Shuttle 4K Pro a recorder and a hub for global production environments.
Regarding visual monitoring and compliance, the HyperDeck Shuttle 4K Pro shines with its built-in waveform monitoring tools, including waveform, vectorscope, RGB/YUV parade, histogram, and HDR scopes. The bright 7-inch touchscreen supports Rec. 709 and Rec. 2020 colour spaces and can display 100% of the DCI-P3 gamut, ensuring accurate colour representation in both SDR and HDR formats. The device automatically detects and tags HDR content using standards like PQ and HLG (ST2084), while scope overlays and customizable picture-in-picture views make signal analysis intuitive and immediate.
Another powerful feature is the advanced metadata management system. The digital slate interface allows users to add and manage metadata quickly by swiping on the touchscreen. Take auto-increment and reel numbers that can be assigned automatically when formatting cards. All metadata is embedded into the recorded files and recognised by DaVinci Resolve, which can be used to organize footage into source tapes for efficient post-production workflows.
The HyperDeck Shuttle 4K Pro is packed with practical features from connectivity to usability. It includes a 12V DC power input, a USB-C expansion port, an SD/UHS-II card slot, and full remote control functionality via Ethernet. Users can upload or transfer media through a browser or FTP, while the REST API enables advanced automation. With support for ExFAT and HFS+ file systems, cross-platform compatibility is seamless, and long-form events can be captured as a single video file without interruptions.
