RODE NTG2 Dual Powered Directional Condenser Microphone
The NTG2 is a lightweight condenser shotgun microphone, designed for professional applications in film, video, television and broadcast. Its full frequency response, low noise and audio transparency makes it ideal in a range of applications including filmmaking, voice-over and streaming. It can operate either from P48 phantom power or via a removable AA battery for maximum flexibility in the studio or in the field. It also features a switchable high-pass filter for added flexibility.

I use it for recording instruments
I use the Rode NTG2 in conjunction with the Zoom H5 to record my ukulele playing and it always comes out great! able to pick up the highs and lows, of which a stringed instruments has such a range of.

NTG 3 quality, NTG 2 price.
Great microphone for interviews and event videography. The ability to use conventional AA batteries for power is fantastic as it saves your mixers/recorders battery life (For this reason I chose the NTG 2 over the NTG 3).The NTG 2 is undoubtedly a great performing microphone for its price. Whilst being practically noiseless it reproduces voices in superb clarity. I use this microphone in conjunction with the Zoom H4n and the Zooms preamps just don't do this microphone justice.If using outdoors definitely use a windshield such as the Røde WS6 as the included windshield is only ideal for the lightest of breezes.
