    Low Resonance Enclosure Design

HS Series cabinets are designed to eliminate unwanted resonance and maximize sound accuracy. The enclosures are made from dense MDF with damped acoustic response. Yamaha engineers also employed a traditional three-way mitered-joint technique—common in architectural design—to anchor the corners of the enclosure, improve durability, and eliminate resonance that could affect overall sound.

    Noise Reduction Technology

Speaker port design significantly affects sound clarity. A vortex forming at either end of the port can cause air vibrations and unwanted noise. Yamaha's noise reduction technology, developed using sound visual analysis, reduces these vortices. The result is a port design that cuts noise by up to 6dB.

    Controls and Connectivity

The HIGH CUT control sets the cutoff frequency for subwoofer high-frequency attenuation (80Hz–120Hz), while the PHASE switch adjusts output phase. The LOW CUT switch and control attenuate low frequencies (80Hz–120Hz). The HS8S offers XLR and TRS inputs, as well as L/R XLR and EXT SUB outputs.
