The Blackmagic Design Streaming Decoder 4K is a powerful tool to convert H.264 or H.265 streams from the Streaming Encoder into high-quality SDI and HDMI video outputs. It seamlessly integrates with various Blackmagic Design cameras, including the Blackmagic Studio Camera Pro, PYXIS, URSA Cine, and URSA Broadcast G2, all equipped with built-in streaming capabilities. This eliminates the need for additional hardware, enabling point-to-point video transmission directly from the camera to remote locations.
With a 12G-SDI reference input, the Streaming Decoder 4K also supports the return of SDI tally, camera control, and talkback signals to the encoder, making it a vital component for live production workflows. Both the front and rear panels of the decoder feature USB-C connectivity, allowing for tethering to high-speed 5G or 4G phones. In case of internet failure, the decoder automatically switches to the phone’s data connection, ensuring uninterrupted streaming. Users can prioritise the Ethernet or mobile phone connection based on their specific requirements, giving them flexibility in varied environments.
For cameras without built-in streaming capabilities, the Blackmagic Streaming Encoder can be used in conjunction with the decoder.
