Atomos Shinobi 7 II 4K HDMI HDR Monitor with Camera Control Overview
The Atomos Shinobi 7 II 4K HDMI HDR Monitor with Camera Control is a bright, professional 7-inch on-camera monitor designed for filmmakers and video professionals who need accurate, daylight-viewable monitoring and comprehensive camera control. Featuring a 1920 x 1080 IPS LCD display with a 2800 cd/m² backlight, the Shinobi 7 II provides excellent visibility in bright outdoor conditions without requiring a monitor hood. The display supports HDR monitoring of up to 10 stops of dynamic range and comes factory colour calibrated for accurate image representation.
With HDMI 2.0 input and output, the Shinobi 7 II supports monitoring DCI and UHD 4K footage at up to 30 fps and can output up to 4K30. A USB-C control connection provides camera control for compatible Canon, FUJIFILM, Nikon, Panasonic and Sony cameras, allowing you to adjust settings such as focus point, white balance, aperture, shutter speed/angle and ISO directly from the touchscreen. The monitor can also trigger the camera's shutter, making it useful for HDR bracketing, focus stacking and other still-image workflows.
The Shinobi 7 II provides a comprehensive range of professional monitoring tools through the latest AtomOS firmware. These include waveform, histogram, RGB parade, vectorscope, focus peaking, zebra, false colour, EL Zone, frame guides, safe areas, anamorphic de-squeeze, zoom and MultiScope analysis. You can load custom 3D LUTs via the SD card slot and apply them to input and output signals; the same slot can also be used for firmware updates.
For production audio, the Shinobi 7 II supports embedded audio through HDMI as well as 3.5mm analogue audio input and output, providing convenient monitoring and audio embedding options. The USB-C port can also connect to a compatible calibration probe for on-device display calibration, while the monitor's centred L-series battery slot and 36W USB-C PD input provide flexible powering options for location and studio workflows.
Built for demanding production environments, the Shinobi 7 II combines a large, high-brightness display with advanced HDR monitoring, camera control and professional image analysis tools. Its support for a wide range of Log formats and colour gamuts makes it a versatile monitoring solution for cinema cameras, mirrorless cameras and professional video production setups.
