The DZOFilm X-Tract 18–28mm T8 FF Detachable Probe Zoom Macro Lens (ARRI PL Mount) is a highly specialised cine tool designed for extreme close-up and macro cinematography in confined or unconventional shooting environments. Covering an 18–28mm zoom range with a 100° to 73° field of view, it delivers everything from ultra-wide establishing perspectives to tighter mid-range framing while maintaining full-frame coverage and consistent T8 exposure throughout the zoom range.

Designed for maximum creative flexibility, the lens features a detachable probe system with 0°, 90°, and 360° tube configurations, allowing cinematographers to reposition the optical path to achieve unique, highly controlled camera angles. A smooth rotating mechanism further expands positioning possibilities, making it ideal for product cinematography, tabletop work, food, automotive interiors, and visual effects where traditional lens placement is not possible.

Despite its compact 16.3-inch form factor and ultra-slim front diameter of under 1.2 inches, the X-Tract delivers powerful macro performance with a maximum magnification ratio of 2.1:1 and an extremely close minimum focusing distance of just 0.24 inches. This enables ultra-detailed subject capture at extreme proximity while keeping the camera safely distanced, improving lighting flexibility and set design options.

Optically, the lens is engineered for high-resolution imaging with minimal distortion across the zoom range. Advanced optical construction incorporating extra-low-dispersion and high-refractive-index elements reduces chromatic and spherical aberrations, while multi-layer coatings minimise flare and reflections for clean, high-contrast images even in challenging lighting conditions. Distortion is tightly controlled at approximately ±2% across the zoom range, ensuring consistent and accurate image reproduction.

Built for professional cine workflows, the lens features 0.8 MOD gearing on the focus, iris, and zoom for seamless integration with follow-focus systems and lens motors. The focus barrel offers a wide 300° rotation, enabling precise, repeatable focus pulls suited to high-end narrative, commercial, and VFX production.
