The DZOFilm X-Tract 18–28mm T8 FF Detachable Probe Zoom Macro Lens (ARRI PL Mount) is a highly specialised cine tool designed for extreme close-up and creative macro cinematography in confined or otherwise inaccessible spaces. Covering a versatile 18–28mm zoom range with a 100°-73° field of view, it delivers everything from ultra-wide environmental shots to tighter mid-range framing while maintaining full-frame coverage and consistent T8 exposure throughout the zoom range.

A defining feature of this lens is its detachable probe system, including both 90° and 360° tube configurations, allowing cinematographers to reposition the optical path for highly flexible and unconventional camera angles. A rotating control section further expands positioning freedom, making it particularly effective for product work, tabletop cinematography, food, automotive interiors, and visual effects plates where traditional lens placement is not possible.

Despite its compact 16.3-inch length and ultra-slim front diameter of under 1.2 inches, the X-Tract delivers exceptional macro capability with a maximum magnification of 2.1:1 and an extremely close minimum focusing distance of just 0.24 inches. This enables tight, detailed subject capture while keeping the camera body safely distanced from the subject, improving lighting and set flexibility.

Optically, the lens is engineered for high-resolution performance with minimal distortion across the zoom range. Extra-low-dispersion and high-refractive-index elements reduce chromatic and spherical aberrations, while advanced multi-layer coatings suppress flare and reflections for clean, high-contrast imagery, even in challenging lighting conditions. Distortion is tightly controlled at approximately ±2%, ensuring consistent image integrity across all focal lengths.

Built for professional cine workflows, the lens features 0.8 MOD gearing on the focus, iris, and zoom for compatibility with standard follow-focus systems and lens motors. The focus barrel offers a wide 300° rotation for precise, controlled focus pulls, making it suitable for high-end narrative, commercial, and VFX production environments.
