The DZOFilm X-Tract 18–28mm T8 FF Detachable Probe Zoom (ARRI PL Mount) is a compact cine-style macro zoom designed for highly creative close-up work in tight and unconventional spaces. Covering a versatile 18–28mm focal range with a 100 °- 73 ° field of view, it delivers everything from ultra-wide establishing shots to tighter mid-range framing while maintaining full-frame coverage. With a constant T8 aperture, a maximum magnification of 2.1:1, and an extremely close minimum focusing distance of just 6.1 mm, it enables extreme proximity shots while keeping the camera safely away from the subject.

A key feature of this lens is its detachable probe system, including both 0° and 360° tube configurations, allowing cinematographers to reposition the optical path for maximum flexibility in confined environments. A rotating control ring further enhances manoeuvrability, making it ideal for precision placement in product cinematography, food, tabletop, and visual effects work where camera positioning is limited.

Optically, the X-Tract is engineered for high-end image quality with low distortion control across the zoom range and features a sophisticated optical design incorporating extra-low-dispersion and high-refractive-index elements. These reduce chromatic aberration and spherical distortion while maintaining natural colour reproduction. Advanced multi-layer coatings help minimise flare and reflections, ensuring consistent contrast and clarity even when shooting wide open.

Built for professional cine workflows, the lens features 0.8 MOD gears across the focus, iris, and zoom for compatibility with standard follow-focus systems and lens motors. The focus barrel provides a wide 300° rotation range for precise, controlled focus pulls. Despite its advanced optical complexity, the lens remains relatively compact, measuring 41.4 cm in length with a front diameter under 30 mm, making it suitable for highly constrained setups.

Designed for demanding production environments, the X-Tract probe lens features waterproof, dustproof construction with scratch and fog resistance for reliable performance in challenging conditions. Focus markings are provided in metric for streamlined professional use on set.
