Sony FE 8-14mm f/3.5 Fisheye G Lens (Sony E) Overview
The Sony FE 8-14mm f/3.5 Fisheye G Lens delivers an expansive 180° angle of view across its versatile 8 to 14mm zoom range, providing an expressive fisheye perspective for stills, video, VR, and creative imaging. On full-frame Sony E-mount cameras, the lens transitions from a circular fisheye at 8mm to a diagonal fisheye at 14mm, giving photographers and filmmakers flexibility to select the ideal perspective for each composition. Its constant f/3.5 maximum aperture, 5.9" minimum focus distance, and 0.22x maximum magnification also make it well suited to dramatic close-up imagery.
Designed for both professional stills and video, the lens features a 16-element, 13-group optical construction incorporating three aspherical, four ED, and one ED aspherical element to deliver high resolution while controlling chromatic and spherical aberrations. Two linear motors provide fast, precise autofocus with minimal focus breathing, while Linear Response MF enables predictable manual-focus control for smooth and accurate focus pulls. The seven-blade circular aperture contributes smooth rendering and rounded highlights.
Despite its expansive field of view, the lens remains compact and lightweight at just 11.1 oz (314g). Independent focus, zoom, and aperture rings provide intuitive manual control, while dedicated AF/MF/Focus Hold, zoom lock, and aperture click switches offer added flexibility for stills, video, astrophotography, and VR applications. Dust- and moisture-resistant construction, a fluorine-coated front element, and a rear filter holder further enhance its suitability for demanding field use. Its compact diameter also supports natural 3D and VR capture when used with dual-camera configurations.
