Powered by DJI’s latest stabilisation technology, the RS 5 supports fast one-hour charging when used with the BG33 battery grip and a 65W PD charger. It provides up to 14 hours of continuous operation, representing a 15% increase over the previous generation, or up to 30 hours when paired with the optional BG70 battery grip. This extended battery life makes the RS 5 ideal for long shooting days without frequent recharging.

The integrated Z-axis indicator provides real-time visual feedback of vertical movement, helping operators refine their walking technique for smoother results. While it does not offer vertical stabilisation, the indicator is a valuable tool for professional shooters seeking greater motion control and consistency in handheld footage.

The RS 5 includes an intelligent tracking module that attaches magnetically and enables automated subject tracking with a single tap. Supporting gesture control and tracking distances of up to 10 metres, the system offers multiple tracking modes, including orbit, POV/selfie, and backward tracking. This makes it easy to maintain accurate framing when working solo or capturing dynamic movement.

The RS 5 features a fixed OLED touchscreen with auto-locking functionality, preventing accidental adjustments during operation while conserving battery power. When locked, the display shows the gimbal and joystick status at reduced brightness to ensure visibility without distraction.

Designed for modern content creation, the RS 5 supports native vertical shooting through its third-generation vertical capture system. Switching to portrait orientation takes only seconds and requires no rebalancing, making it ideal for social media, mobile-first content, and commercial vertical video production.

The second-generation quick-release plate system allows fast camera mounting and precise balancing. The redesigned horizontal plate enables faster transitions to vertical shooting, while a fine-tuning knob provides precise tilt-axis adjustment. Built-in placement guides help ensure secure and repeatable camera mounting.

For expanded workflow control, the RS 5 integrates seamlessly with the DJI Ronin app, allowing remote exposure adjustment and virtual joystick operation. When paired with the Ronin Image Transmitter, a smartphone can function as a motion controller, enabling more creative and flexible camera movements from a distance.

The second-generation automated axis locks improve efficiency and safety during setup and transport. Powering on automatically unlocks all three axes in seconds, while powering off instantly locks the gimbal for storage. Improved locking tolerances reduce unwanted movement and increase overall stability.

An integrated RSA communication port allows compatibility with Ronin-series accessories and supported third-party gear. With support for the DJI RS SDK, the RS 5 is ready for future expansion, enabling customised configurations and advanced control options for professional users.

Wireless shutter control is enabled through dual-mode Bluetooth, allowing photo and video recording directly from the gimbal without cables. Once paired, compatible cameras reconnect automatically, streamlining setup and improving efficiency on set.

For advanced focus and monitoring workflows, the RS 5 supports Focus Pro motors for precise focus and zoom control via the gimbal dial and joystick. Compatibility with DJI SDR Transmission enables live video monitoring and remote control of the camera and gimbal, making the RS 5 a powerful solution for professional film and video production.
