The DJI RS 5 Gimbal Stabiliser is a powerful yet lightweight professional gimbal designed to deliver exceptionally smooth footage for mirrorless and DSLR cameras. Featuring a built-in Z-axis (vertical) movement indicator, the RS 5 helps operators refine their shooting technique for more stable, cinematic results. While the indicator does not provide vertical stabilisation, it gives clear visual feedback to help minimise unwanted vertical motion during movement-heavy shots.

Designed for on-set efficiency, the RS 5 supports fast one-hour charging when paired with the optional BG33 battery grip and a 65W PD charger. This provides up to 14 hours of runtime, representing a 15% improvement over the previous generation, or up to 30 hours when used with the higher-capacity BG70 battery grip. This extended battery performance makes the RS 5 ideal for long shooting days and demanding production schedules.

Switching between horizontal and vertical shooting is quick and intuitive thanks to DJI’s third-generation native vertical capture design. With a simple single-side knob adjustment, users can rotate and secure the horizontal plate in seconds, making the RS 5 perfectly suited for modern content creation across social media, commercials, and hybrid productions.

The second-generation dual-layer quick-release plate system simplifies camera mounting and balancing while accelerating workflow. A redesigned horizontal plate enables faster transitions to vertical shooting, while tilt-axis fine-tuning knobs allow precise forward and backward camera adjustments. Built-in placement guides further enhance mounting accuracy and stability.

An upgraded fixed OLED touchscreen with auto-lock functionality helps prevent accidental changes to settings while conserving battery life. Once locked, the display shows essential gimbal and joystick information at reduced brightness, keeping operators informed without distraction.

For advanced shooting setups, the RS 5 supports DJI Focus Pro motors and DJI SDR Transmission, allowing precise focus and zoom control directly from the gimbal. When paired with the Ronin Image Transmitter, users can monitor footage live and remotely control both camera and gimbal movement using a smartphone, enabling more dynamic and flexible camera work.

The RS 5 also introduces second-generation automated axis locks that unlock and deploy the gimbal in just two seconds when powered on. When powered off, the axes lock securely into place, reducing vibration during transport and improving storage efficiency.

Wireless control is enhanced by dual-mode Bluetooth, enabling shutter operation without control cables after initial pairing. Compatible cameras can automatically reconnect, streamlining setup and saving valuable time on set. Supported models include select FUJIFILM and Panasonic cameras.

Integrated physical controls allow fast switching between Pan Follow, Pan & Tilt Follow, and FPV modes, with customisable FPV options such as 3D Roll 360, Portrait, and Custom. Intelligent shooting features, including motion-lapse, tracking, and panorama, further expand creative possibilities. A customisable trigger button enables quick access to FPV mode, allowing all three axes to follow grip movement for immersive camera motion.
