Manfrotto 143 Magic Arm Kit

This was bought with the intention of holding a simple device using a 1/4 inch thread to a tripod which needed to be very stable, probably an over kill for its initial purpose, that being said this magic arm is so strong and rigid , I have used it for many other uses already in a short space of time. It's a beast ! Well worth the money ! The release arm did play up but after a brief google I discovered how to reseat the three bearings in the mechanism which was very simple to do and apparently is a comman small snag with this ... it hasn't been a problem since. The build quality is excellent and I am very happy with this !

Such a useful bit of gear. Recently I used it with the camera mount to hold a 7d off my tripod as a 2nd camera. It held tight and is really simple to lock the arm off. During the recent cyclone Marcia I use the stand that comes with it and in the other end the clamp held an led torch for cooking. The clamp can grab square or round objects. It's very solid and you can tighten it up if it loosens over time. It has so many potential uses.

Lets be honest. Everyone's kit needs a magic arm or 3. Rock solid. Clamps to just about everything. Theres a good reason they are called magic arm!

We were faced with the dilemma of mounting some motion capture cameras in a semi permanent location until we had a final space. It is a flexible, sturdy piece of kit & it handles the weight of our cameras perfectly whilst giving us the flexibility to mount them nearly wherever we want. There's a great, solid feel about the Magic Arm & using it couldn't be simpler.The kit comes complete with a the Magic Arm itself, C-mount plate, small lighting stand & the clamp & this covers nearly every scenario we come across. Assembly is easy & manipulating the arm into the position required is a piece of cake. The arm can feel a little bulky but to be honest, that really is a very minor criticism. Overal, this is an excellent kit that provides maximum flexibility with minimum fuss coupled with a great, solid build quality. Highly recommended.
